We had a very full couple of weeks recently: Branden started his Little League season, during the rainiest year I can remember since moving back from Colorado. Stacy has been kept very busy with Practice twice a week and up to 3 games a week as well. Craziness!
I put the Trailer up for sale on rvtrader.com and made a successful sale to a nice lady with two kids within 3 weeks.
Okay, so we were so excited to get the Trailer and dreamed of weekends with the kids in campgrounds all over the west coast. Unfortunately, gas prices took a huge upward swing and are not expected to come down, EVER. This caused us to rethink the frequency of our trips. That and the lack of free weekends.
Rather than hold on to the trailer for twice a year use, we decided that we should sell it and the Dodge truck for a more Family friendly car. Stacy favored the Jeep Grand Cherokee so we began our search. Lots of time was spent researching on the internet for pricing and durability and model years. We printed out about 15 different dealer ads from autotrader.com and the vehicle history reports for each and sorted them into order of preference based on year, mileage, price and location.
The first dealer had sold theirs a day or two before we showed up. The second dealer turned out to be the one we’d buy from. We found a 1998 that was in very good condition in our price range and got nearly what we wanted, and more than I expected for the trade in. We spent a couple of hours with the dealer and drove home with our new Jeep.
I took it into Jiffy Lube the very next day and had all the fluids replaced and the cooling system flushed in preparation of our trip next week to Colorado. The Jeep is full time 4 wheel drive so will do nicely in the mountains and will perform nicely on Ortega highway in the rain, though Stacy will be driving it in dry weather to reduce the wear and tear on it and reduce the fuel bill.
Wendy came to visit and spend the night with us on Friday. The kids had a great time, especially Branden since Wendy took the time to learn how to play Yu-Gi-Oh cards with him. Stacy and I enjoyed our time with Wendy as well as the kids did, and as always the time was too short. I dropped Wendy off on Saturday around lunch time with Kevin and Sara. Joan was there to visit with Wendy as well.
I took Wendy to ColdStone Creamery to sample the Ice Cream there. It was a hit.
So now we prepare for our trip to Winter Park, Colorado. I’ll try and send updates and pictures from the road.
That’s all for now.
