Catalina was lots of fun. We managed to squeeze in the Skyline Drive tour (Goes up to the Airport in the Sky) and a Glass Bottom Boat ride. The kids loved that! Bailey fell asleep on the Skyline Drive. We did get to see 2 North American Bison or Bison Bison (not Buffalo! says the tour guide – who cares that much? says I). The powers that be, shipped off most of the Bison Bison to some Indian Res. in North Dakota because a study says that the island can only support 250 head of the beasts so 1375 was way too many. Of course now you’re lucky to see any at all on tours.
We went to an Angels game (we won).
We also went to Las Vegas to see Stacy’s Dad and Stepmom. We visited Sigfreid and Roy’s Secret Garden. Basically, a zoo with various breeds of white tiger, 3 lions (not white) and 1 Thai Ceremonial Elephant (also not white). They had 5 Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin in 3 connected tanks who swam in circles looking quite bored until the trainers (researchers) came out and played (sorry, “interacted” – everyone has to correct pre conceived notions don’t they) with them.
Before we drove back on Sunday, Stacy and I left the kids with the grandparents and visited the Titanic Exibition. They had lots of artifacts from the various recovery dives and even a 40′ long (give or take) section of the hull. They gave out “Boarding Passes” with actual names of passengers on them. At the end of the exibit there was a list of those who survived and those who didn’t. Stacy’s survived, mine didn’t.
