Christmas Time is almost upon us and half of our house is suffering from dreadful colds. Stacy and Bailey got the worst of it and I’m almost certain that Stacy’s has morphed into the flu complete with body aches. Branden and I didn’t get it as bad and even Branden had it worse than me. Must be the time I spend away from home to, from and at work. We’re all hoping to be better for the Big Day and the Big Day After when we get together with the rest of the So Cal Allens. 5 days and counting…
We are completely done with the gift buying, YEAAAAH! No, we didn’t by the PS3 or the Wii like many (Though the Wii looks intreaguing for it’s unique control). We stayed on budget and were as generous as we could be and we hope that everyone likes their gifts. We kept with our tradition of Christmas Gifts Are For The Children with the exception of; Family members without children, our Parents, and of course our spouses. I hope our brothers and sisters did the same, with the same exceptions of course. Remember, if you want some say in the gifts we purchase for you I have 3 words for you: “AMAZON WISH LIST”. (This means you too, Mom)
The outside of house is decorated with icicle lights, 2 animated deer, 1 spiral christmas tree with star, 1 North Pole, 10 small lited penguins, 5 small lited candy canes and one Christmas wreath. I did not fall off the roof. The inside is slightly less decorated than last year. We have the tree with lites, and a red themed ornament/garland thing going on. We have a new motorized snow globe, an animated singing Christmas tree (Without Batteries) so it’s really just a weird looking small Christmas tree with the potential for annoying, the stockings of course, a fiber-optic snowman that changes colors, some pine garland on the stair railing and various other Christmasey nicnacks around. The dining room table has been removed to give us some room until Christmas Dinner after the bulk of the gifts have been unwrapped and played with at least once.
I anticipate that Football and “The Christmas Story” will be on TV all day long but nobody will be paying much attention to the TV. There will be much rejoicing, lots of eating and probably some tears from the smallest children who will feel at times ignored or slighted by the bigger kids. I will try and ignore that last part and concentrate on being happy, content, and at peace with my life on this day. I will eat more than my fill and wish I hadn’t. I will play silly games with the kids and probably be challenged to a game of basket ball by Michelle.
Pictures will be taken and posted at various times during the day to keep family with High Speed Internet up to date if they care to check in, but you shouldn’t be checking in, you should be with your family and enjoying them instead of surfing the internet 🙂
Happy Holidays
